Gujarat Shocker: Woman Strangles Two Sons to Death After Midnight ‘Moksha Ritual’; Arrested by Police

Navsari, Gujarat: In a horrifying incident that has left the region stunned, a woman in Navsari’s Bilimora town allegedly strangled her two young sons to death after performing a midnight ritual seeking “moksha” for her ancestors. The woman, identified as Sunita Sharma, has been arrested by the police.

Woke Up at Midnight, Performed Ritual, Then Killed Her Children

According to police officials, the incident occurred late Thursday night in a flat located in the Desra area of Bilimora. Sunita Sharma, originally from Uttar Pradesh, lived with her husband Shivkant, her two sons aged 7 and 4, and her in-laws.

Investigators said Sunita suddenly woke up around midnight and began praying loudly, claiming she was seeking liberation for her ancestors. Moments later, she allegedly strangled both her sleeping sons.

Tried to Kill Father-in-law, But He Escaped

Police revealed that Sunita also attempted to attack her father-in-law, Indrapal, but he managed to flee the apartment and save his life. He immediately alerted neighbors and authorities.

The gruesome discovery has left locals shocked, many struggling to understand how a mother could commit such an act.

Woman Suspected to Be Mentally Unstable

Preliminary investigation suggests that the woman may be mentally unstable, though police are probing all angles, including potential influence, religious delusion, or external manipulation.

Authorities are also examining whom Sunita was in contact with before the incident and whether she had shown signs of psychological disturbance earlier.

Husband Was Hospitalized During the Incident

Police stated that Sunita’s husband, Shivkant, was admitted to a private hospital due to typhoid at the time of the incident.
Her in-laws had just returned from the hospital after delivering dinner to him and later went to sleep, unaware of the tragedy unfolding inside the apartment.

Police Launch Detailed Investigation

DSP B.V. Gohil confirmed that Navsari police have launched a thorough investigation into the case, including psychological evaluation of the accused.
The community is deeply shaken by the brutality, and many are questioning how such a devastating act could be carried out by a mother.
