Nadiad, February 3:
A shocking incident has emerged from Nadiad, Gujarat, where a 21-year-old first-year nursing student, Jai Vijaykumar Patil, took his own life. Patil, enrolled at Dinsa Patel Nursing College since October, was found hanging at his residence on Monday.
In a suicide note addressed to his mother, Patil asserted that he was wrongly accused of body-shaming female professors and was being framed. He expressed that he was being unfairly judged and humiliated without evidence and stressed that he did not commit any offense warranting punishment.
Patil’s father, Vijay Patil, alleged that the college administration deliberately isolated his son and subjected him to intense pressure, warning him of disciplinary action and possible issuance of a leaving certificate if he did not comply. He demanded strict legal action against those responsible.
The college, however, denied any wrongdoing, stating that complaints had been received regarding the student’s conduct. Principal Virendra Jain confirmed that a high-level internal inquiry committee has been formed post the incident, which is recording statements from all teaching staff, including the three female professors involved.
The college also stated that Patil had been asked to apologize in writing three times for alleged misconduct and that a meeting had been held with his mother two days before his death to address the matter. Nadiad Town Police are investigating the case as an accidental death and are examining the student’s mobile records while recording statements from family members and college staff.
