Guardians Turned Robbers: Two Policemen Arrested in Hathras Silver Merchant Robbery

Mathura: In a shocking turn of events, two policemen in uniform, along with their accomplices, robbed a silver merchant from Hathras near Mathura Railway Station. The police quickly launched a manhunt and arrested three individuals, including a PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) constable involved in the crime.

The Robbery Incident
The incident occurred when the silver merchant, a resident of Hathras, arrived in Mathura by train from Chhindwara. He alighted at the Dhauley Pyao area of Mathura Railway Station and was heading towards Hathras. Shortly after disembarking, he was confronted by three men in a Baleno car. The men accused him of being involved in illegal activities and demanded his bag. When the merchant resisted and raised an objection, the situation escalated. Among the assailants were two policemen in uniform, who forcefully seized the merchant’s bag and fled in the Baleno car.

Quick Action by Police
Upon receiving information about the robbery, SSP Mathura Shlok Kumar immediately formed three teams to investigate the case. The police set up roadblocks and apprehended the robbers, who were traveling in a Bolero vehicle, near Mal Godam Road. During questioning, the three suspects identified themselves as Rohit and Gopal, both residents of Hathras, and Narendra, a police constable from the PAC in Agra.

Involvement of Police Personnel
It was revealed during the investigation that Narendra, the PAC constable, was directly involved in the robbery. The police are now on the lookout for another absconding police personnel and his accomplice. Investigators found that the suspects, Rohit and Gopal, were familiar with the merchant, as they hailed from the same village.

Recovery of Stolen Goods
The police recovered significant loot from the arrested robbers. Items seized include 2.4 kilograms of silver, ₹60,000 in cash, two firearms, two cartridges, a black bag, and the Baleno car used in the robbery.

SSP Shlok Kumar confirmed the details of the incident, stating that the robbery took place when the silver merchant, traveling from Chhindwara, was accosted by the assailants immediately after he got off at Mathura Station. The police have arrested the three culprits and are continuing their investigation.
