Greater Noida: Once again, the menace of stray dogs has put residents on edge in Greater Noida. On Monday morning, at Shiv Shakti Apartments in Sector MU‑2, a group of stray dogs attacked an elderly woman who was taking her morning walk in the park, leaving her injured. The dogs reportedly bit her leg severely, causing significant wounds.
According to residents, the woman’s cries alerted bystanders, who rushed to her aid and managed to rescue her from the attacking dogs. The incident has sparked concern among locals, who claim that despite multiple such attacks in the past, authorities have yet to take concrete action to control the stray dog population.
Park Walk Turns Dangerous
The elderly woman had gone to the society park for her routine morning walk when several stray dogs suddenly attacked her. Dharmendra Rathi, former president of the society’s RWA, confirmed that the attack occurred in the early hours and that residents intervened to save the woman’s life.
Stray Dog Menace Growing
Rathi also highlighted that this is not the first incident of its kind in the society. In the past, both children and adults have been injured in similar attacks. Residents say stray dogs roam in packs in the sector, particularly during morning and evening hours, posing a constant threat to walkers and children.
Residents Demand Action
The former RWA president has appealed to the Greater Noida Development Authority (GNIDA) and other concerned departments to take immediate and effective measures. Residents are urging authorities to capture and sterilize the stray dogs to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of the community.
