Noida: In a tragic incident at the Knowledge Park fire station in Greater Noida, a firefighter identified as Sandeep Kumar was found dead, having apparently hanged himself in the barracks. Authorities suspect that the incident may be linked to prolonged mental stress and depression.
According to police reports, Sandeep, 35, who hailed from Halalpur, Baghpat, was on duty at the time. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police rushed to the fire station, took the body into custody, and sent it for post-mortem. The deceased’s family has been informed, and a thorough investigation into the case has been initiated.
Background and Possible Causes
Sources revealed that Sandeep had been struggling with mental health issues following the deaths of his parents—his father in 2018 and mother in 2024. Despite attempting several government job applications, he had not succeeded, which may have contributed to his distress.
On the morning of the incident, a fellow firefighter called Sandeep around 5:30 AM to report for duty, but he did not answer. Concerned, the colleague went to Sandeep’s room on the second floor, knocked on the door, and, receiving no response, looked through the window and saw him hanging from the ceiling fan. The door was then forcibly opened, and the body was taken down before police were notified.
Police Investigation
Officials confirmed that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly examined. While the exact reasons for the suicide are yet to be determined, the police have collected evidence from the scene and are questioning other personnel at the fire station to understand the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
