Gorakhpur Woman Arrested for Murder, Allegedly Ran Blackmail Ring Targeting Over 150 People

Gorakhpur: A shocking case has emerged from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, where Anshika Singh has been arrested for allegedly shooting a hospital manager to death. Police investigations reveal that Singh ran an extensive blackmail operation, reportedly extorting money from around 150 individuals, including 12 police officers. Several obscene videos were recovered from her mobile phone, indicating the scale of her operations. Authorities are now preparing to take action under the Gangster Act.

Sources say that the family faced severe hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic when Anshika’s father, a farmer, passed away. Following his death, the family’s conduct became increasingly erratic, leading to social isolation. Her only brother moved to Pune after his marriage three years ago, and the villagers distanced themselves from Anshika, her mother, and her middle sister due to their controversial behavior.

Anshika, the youngest of four daughters, had studied only up to the eighth grade, while her middle sister completed the 10th grade. Villagers claimed that she was often seen in suspicious company, which had already created an atmosphere of mistrust in the area. Her mother and sisters frequently stayed out of the house for days, adding to the unease.

Police investigations suggest that Anshika financed her expensive lifestyle through blackmail, using nude video calls to intimidate victims into paying money. She lived alone in a rented apartment in Gorakhpur. Last week, she reportedly hosted a birthday celebration with four friends at the apartment, during which the hospital manager, Vishal, arrived to deliver blackmail payment. A heated argument reportedly broke out, leading to Vishal being shot and killed.

The case has left local residents in shock, although many say they were aware of the family’s controversial behavior. Police are continuing their probe into Singh’s network and criminal activities.
