Gorakhpur: Police Vehicle Hits Tree, One Officer Killed, Five Injured

Gorakhpur: A tragic road accident occurred in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday morning when a police vehicle returning from a raid in the neighboring Kushinagar district collided with a tree. One Sub-Inspector (SI) lost her life, and five other police personnel were injured, including a female inspector and an SSI, who are in critical condition. All injured officers have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the police department.

A team from Ramgarh Tal police station had conducted a raid in the Khadda area of Kushinagar related to a fraud case. On their return, the vehicle went out of control near Shyamdeurwa in Gorakhpur and struck a roadside tree. Preliminary reports suggest that the driver may have dozed off while driving through dense fog.

Injuries and Hospitalization

The front portion of the vehicle was severely damaged. Local residents rushed the injured officers to BRD Medical College for treatment. Inspector Santosh Kumar succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. SSI Ramesh Chandra Kushwaha and Inspector Geeta are in serious condition. Senior police officials arrived at the scene, and treatment of the injured is ongoing. The exact cause of the accident is under investigation.

Accident Timing

According to CO Cantt Yogendra Singh, the team was returning from the raid when the accident occurred around 6:30 AM near Katarari Chowki in the Shyamdeurwa police jurisdiction. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, leading to the collision.
