In a shocking revelation from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, the double murder of a mother and daughter on 23 November 2025 has exposed a disturbing chain of events driven by greed and deception. The incident, which took place in Shahpur’s Ghosipurwa area, was cracked by the police on 5 December. Since then, chilling details about the accused, Rajat, have continued to emerge.
According to police interrogation, Rajat had been plotting the crime for several days. He knew that Shanti Devi had kept cash at home for her knee treatment. Her daughter Vimla—whom he addressed as “Bua”—often wore expensive jewelry, including a gold bracelet and ring. Rajat confessed that he had long been eyeing their money and valuables but had not found the right opportunity.
He admitted that he deliberately served alcohol to both women to render them unconscious. His initial plan was theft, but he had already decided that if the plan failed or they woke up, he would kill them. For this reason, he carried a hammer with him. Once both were intoxicated, he brutally attacked them, killing them on the spot. He then escaped with cash and jewelry.
Rajat further revealed that he was emotionally influenced by his girlfriend’s financial distress. Her father was under heavy debt, and she frequently remained upset. Rajat had told her that he worked in property dealing and that money would soon come to resolve their problems.
After committing the crime, Rajat spent lavishly. He paid off ₹2 lakh of his girlfriend’s father’s debt and gifted her an iPhone worth ₹1.20 lakh. He also had a gold ring made for her. To generate more cash, he melted and sold the stolen jewelry. Out of the stolen amount, he even gave ₹50,000 to his own father, claiming it was profit from property business.
Police officials have stated that the accused meticulously planned both the robbery and the murders, driven by greed and a desire to impress and support his girlfriend. The case continues to reveal new layers of premeditation and betrayal, highlighting the brutal lengths to which Rajat went to fulfill his personal motives.
