Jhunjhunu:
Residents of Rajasthan’s Shekhawati region are set to receive a major infrastructure boost, as the Central Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved the four-laning of National Highway-11 from Jhunjhunu to the Haryana border (Pacheri). Once completed, the project will significantly reduce travel time to Delhi, making the journey faster, safer, and more comfortable for commuters, traders, farmers, and transporters.
₹2,202 Crore Project to Transform Connectivity
The ambitious project will cover the stretch from Jhunjhunu through Chirawa and Singhana up to the Haryana border at Pacheri, with a total investment of ₹2,202.67 crore. After receiving clearance from the Union Road Transport Ministry, the highway is expected to redefine road connectivity between Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi, allowing vehicles to move at high speeds with minimal congestion.
The project received momentum following Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari’s meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, after which the long-pending proposal was given the green signal.
78 km Four-Lane Highway with Bridges and Bypasses
Under the project:
- 78.18 km of road will be upgraded to a four-lane highway
- 41.66 km of bypass roads will be constructed to divert traffic away from crowded towns
- 42 bridges and flyovers will be built to ensure smooth, uninterrupted movement
These upgrades will drastically cut delays caused by traffic bottlenecks and improve overall road safety.
Bypasses for Towns, Ring Road for Chirawa
Bypasses will be developed at Jhunjhunu Bihad, Bagad, Khudana, Singhana, and Pacheri Kalan, offering relief from traffic congestion in these areas.
A major highlight of the project is the four-lane ring road for Chirawa, stretching from Pilani Road to Lakhu Tiraha and onward to Ojatu Tiraha, which will significantly reduce traffic pressure within the city.
Direct Benefits for Farmers and Trade
The new four-lane highway is expected to be a game-changer for the agricultural sector. Farm produce, fruits, and vegetables from Jhunjhunu and surrounding areas will reach Delhi-NCR markets in much less time, reducing transportation costs and helping farmers secure better prices.
Traders, industrialists, and daily commuters will also benefit from improved access to Delhi, Gurugram, and other parts of Haryana.
‘New Speed for Development’: Deputy CM Diya Kumari
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari said the project would give new momentum to development in Jhunjhunu district. She emphasized that better connectivity would lead to industrial growth, employment generation, and easier access for farmers and businesses to major urban markets.
Land Acquisition to Be Fast-Tracked
According to official sources, land acquisition from Jhunjhunu to the Haryana border is progressing rapidly. While the Jhunjhunu–Mandawa–Fatehpur stretch is nearly complete, work on the Jhunjhunu–Bagad–Chirawa–Pacheri section had earlier slowed due to land-related issues. These hurdles are now being addressed, and construction is expected to gain pace soon. Most of the highway work on the Haryana side has already been completed.
Once finished, this four-lane NH-11 corridor will bring Delhi significantly closer to Shekhawati, marking a major leap in regional connectivity and economic growth.
