Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation is set to launch a landmark urban development project — Uttar Pradesh’s first-ever elevated trail — at Sai Upvan on GT Road. Under the leadership of Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik, the project aims to enhance the city’s recreational infrastructure while boosting municipal revenue.
The elevated trail will span 650 meters in length and 1.5 meters in width, designed as a unique leisure and fitness destination for citizens. Estimated to cost ₹5 crore, the project will be developed under the Built, Operate and Transfer (BOT) model, ensuring that the municipal body bears no financial burden. Tenders for the project, invited on the BOT basis, are scheduled to be opened on December 11.
Commissioner Malik said that the BOT model was chosen to ensure efficient construction and long-term operation while generating revenue for the corporation. A share of the operational earnings will directly contribute to the civic body’s income.
More than just a walking trail, the elevated structure is planned as a multi-activity recreational hub. It will include modern sports and fitness facilities such as basketball courts, pickleball areas, and box cricket zones for youth and athletes. Public utilities including toilets, ample parking space, and a café zone will also be developed to enhance the visitor experience.
Commissioner Malik stated that the project will make Ghaziabad the first municipal corporation in Uttar Pradesh to develop an elevated trail. The initiative is expected to become a major attraction not only for residents but also for visitors from nearby cities, significantly strengthening Ghaziabad’s urban image and branding.
