Gold Locket Stolen from Badi Mata Temple in Jhansi, Thief Caught on CCTV

A shocking incident of temple theft has come to light from Jhansi district in Uttar Pradesh, where a gold locket was stolen from the idol of Goddess Durga at the Badi Mata Temple. The incident occurred late at night in the Garautha police station area and was captured on the temple’s CCTV cameras. The video footage has been handed over to the police, who have launched an investigation based on the visuals.

According to information, the Badi Mata Temple is located on Madhan Road under the Garautha police jurisdiction. CCTV footage shows a man fearlessly entering the temple premises at night and removing a gold locket from the idol of Goddess Durga before fleeing the scene. The theft reportedly took place on Friday night.

The incident came to light on Saturday morning when devotees arrived at the temple for worship and found the lock broken and the ornament missing from the idol. Shocked by the discovery, local villagers immediately informed the police. A police team reached the spot and began an inspection of the premises. Upon reviewing the CCTV footage installed inside the temple, the accused was clearly seen committing the theft.

Confirming the incident, Garautha Station House Officer (SHO) Vinay Kumar Sahu said that the police have taken one person into custody for questioning based on suspicion. He added that efforts are underway to identify and trace the accused using the CCTV footage, and the case is expected to be solved soon.

The incident has caused concern among local residents and devotees, who have demanded strict action against the culprit and enhanced security arrangements at religious places in the area.
