Gaya: In a shocking incident, approximately 1 kilogram of gold, valued at around ₹1.44 crore, was allegedly snatched by railway personnel tasked with ensuring passenger safety. The incident has put the focus on the Railway Protection Force (GRP) personnel stationed on the Gaya-Dhanbad rail section.
According to reports, Shashwat, an employee of a bullion trading company based in West Bengal, was traveling by train to Jaipur for a gold delivery. Near Koderma station, four GRP personnel allegedly conducted a bag check under the pretext of security. Upon spotting gold biscuits in his possession, the personnel reportedly snatched the bag and threatened Shashwat, instructing him to return immediately to Howrah from Gaya Junction. Fearing for his safety, Shashwat complied and informed his employer, Manoj Soni, about the incident.
Initially, a complaint was lodged at Malipanchghora Police Station in Howrah on November 20. Subsequently, the bullion company escalated the matter to senior officials of the Patna GRP, including Railway Superintendent of Police (SRP) Inamul Haque. Following SRP intervention, an FIR was formally registered at Gaya GRP Station on November 29.
SRP Inamul Haque personally visited Gaya and directed the local GRP station in-charge, Rajesh Singh, to ensure the immediate arrest of the accused personnel and to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the case.
Police have initiated a probe into this high-profile case, which has raised serious concerns about the safety of passengers and their valuables while in the custody of security forces.
