Goa Nightclub Tragedy: Four Relatives from Ghaziabad’s Vasundhara Perish, Silence Engulfs the Home

A heavy silence surrounds a flat in Vasundhara’s Sector-15, where just days ago the laughter of children echoed through the corridors. Today, the doors and windows of House No. 986 remain tightly shut. The tragic loss of Vinod Kumar and his three sisters-in-law in the Goa nightclub fire has plunged the entire locality into grief.

Eight-year-old Anayas and 13-year-old Reyansh are still in shock, struggling to comprehend that their father will never return. Known for his helpful nature and active participation in community work, Vinod’s absence is deeply felt by every resident.

Four Family Members Killed in Goa Fire

Vinod Kumar, his wife, and three sisters-in-law had travelled to Goa for a vacation. On the night of December 4, a massive fire broke out at a nightclub in Arpora. Amid the chaos, Vinod’s wife managed to escape. Vinod, however, rushed back inside in search of his sisters-in-law. All four were trapped and succumbed to the blaze.

Goa Police handed over the bodies to the family after post-mortem examination.

Victims Identified by the Family

RWA President Kapil Sharma confirmed that Vinod lived with his wife and two children in the second-floor builder flat. Originally from Uttarakhand, the family had shifted to Vasundhara only two years ago. Despite being new, Vinod quickly earned respect for his humility and willingness to help others.

The three deceased sisters-in-law were identified as Saroj Joshi, Anita Joshi, and Kamla Joshi.

A Close-Knit Family Devastated

Vinod and his brother Naveen had married two sisters from the same family. Vinod’s wife Bhawna is the youngest sibling, while Naveen is married to the eldest sister. One of the sisters was recently married last year, and the youngest lived with her parents in Dwarka and Rohini.

Vinod’s children study in local schools—Anayas in Class 3 at Sun Valley School and Reyansh in Class 7.

‘I Recognised My Loved Ones Among the Bodies’: Wife Narrates the Horror

Vinod’s wife, Bhawna, who survived the incident, described the horrifying moments inside the nightclub.
She said that a “cracker gun” used during the party sent sparks flying. One spark hit the wiring on the ceiling, igniting the wooden interior within seconds.
Panic erupted as flames spread rapidly.

The power supply was cut off, leaving hundreds in complete darkness. With only one exit and a dense crowd pushing to escape, many were trapped, burned, or collapsed due to suffocation.

Bhawna recalled:
“I was looking at the bodies coming out one by one. Among them, I recognised my husband and sister’s bodies.”

The police later released an official list of the deceased, in which the names of Vinod and his sisters-in-law appeared at Serial Numbers 22 to 25.

A Community in Mourning

Neighbours and RWA members described Vinod as gentle, friendly, and always eager to help. His death, along with the loss of three young women from the same family, has left the locality shattered.

As preparations begin for the last rites, the family’s flat—once full of life—remains enveloped in a painful, heartbreaking silence.
