Saharanpur: A horrifying murder case has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district, where a man allegedly killed his girlfriend in a brutal manner after she insisted on marriage. The accused, identified as Bilal, strangled the woman with a car seat belt and later beheaded her to conceal her identity. The crime was uncovered on the very day Bilal’s wedding procession was scheduled to take place, sending shockwaves across the region.
Relationship Turned Fatal
The victim, 30-year-old Uma, was a resident of Gangotri Colony in Saharanpur. She had been in a relationship with Bilal, a taxi driver from Tidoli village in the Nakur police station area, for nearly two years. The two had also lived together for a period. Uma was already married and the mother of a 10-year-old son, who lived with his father. Due to marital disputes, she had been living alone.
According to police, Bilal bore most of Uma’s expenses. However, tensions escalated when Uma began pressuring him to marry her. Meanwhile, Bilal’s family had fixed his marriage elsewhere, with the wedding scheduled for December 14. Faced with mounting pressure and fear of exposure, Bilal allegedly decided to eliminate her.
Crime Planned Under the Pretext of an Outing
Yamunanagar Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep said that on the night of December 6, Bilal lured Uma out under the pretext of a drive. Around 8 pm, he took her in his car towards Yamunanagar. Near a secluded spot close to the Kalesar forest, he stopped the vehicle, moved to the back seat, and strangled her with the seat belt, killing her on the spot.
In an act that stunned investigators, the accused then beheaded Uma in an attempt to prevent identification. He dumped the headless body in a popular nursery in the Pratapnagar area, while taking the severed head and clothes with him. Later, under the cover of darkness, he discarded the head in the forests of the Lal Dhang area.
Headless Body Sparks Panic
On December 7, the discovery of a nude, headless woman’s body in the nursery triggered panic in the area. As the victim could not be identified at the time, the police carried out her last rites as an unclaimed body. However, the investigation continued.
CCTV footage revealed the presence of a car with a Saharanpur registration number near the crime scene. Following technical surveillance and mobile phone tracking up to Hathinikund, police traced the trail to Tidoli village in Saharanpur.
Accused Confesses, Evidence Recovered
Bilal was arrested after sustained technical and field investigation. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. On his disclosure, police recovered the severed head, clothes and shawl from the forest area.
The case has exposed a chilling act of betrayal and brutality, highlighting how personal relationships can spiral into extreme violence. Police have completed key recoveries and further legal proceedings against the accused are underway.
