Patna, 15 Dec 2025: Union Minister Giriraj Singh has called for stringent legislation to curb alleged religious conversions in Bihar. Highlighting the issue, he stated that poor citizens are reportedly being lured with incentives to change their faith, and urgent measures are needed to prevent this trend.
“Religious conversions are happening at an alarming pace across Bihar. If not addressed in time, Bihar could risk becoming another Kerala,” Giriraj Singh said, emphasizing the need for a concrete law to protect vulnerable communities from inducements or coercion.
Appeal for Legislative Action
Singh appealed to the government to introduce a robust legal framework immediately to regulate religious conversions and safeguard the interests of the economically weaker sections of society.
Comments on Nitin Naveen’s Appointment
On the appointment of Nitin Naveen as the BJP’s National Executive President, Singh remarked that it is the first time Bihar has been given such responsibility since the party’s formation. He praised Naveen as highly energetic and noted his record as a five-time legislator. Singh also took a swipe at Congress, stating that while the party remains tied to the Gandhi family, BJP demonstrates that even a grassroots worker can rise to national leadership.
Support for Schools on Illegal Properties
Singh also commended Bihar Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary’s policy of establishing schools on properties linked to alleged corruption by leaders such as Lalu Prasad Yadav. “If illegal properties can be converted into educational institutions, it is a positive step for society,” he said.
