Giridih Loot and Murder Case Solved: Driver Killed for TMT Steel Theft, 3 Arrested

Giridih: The Giridih Police have cracked the case of a brutal truck robbery and murder in the Bagodar police jurisdiction, involving a truck loaded with TMT steel bars. Out of five accused involved in the incident, three have been arrested, while two remain at large, police confirmed. SDPO Dhananjay Ram provided the details on Monday.

Planned Murder for Steel Loot
The crime took place on 18 November. Truck driver Dheeraj Yadav, a resident of Khagaria, Bihar, was mercilessly killed in the Santarupi forest area. The perpetrators looted the truck loaded with TMT steel and fled. Two of Dheeraj’s acquaintances, Md. Jainul and Md. Dawood, had prior knowledge that Dheeraj regularly transported TMT steel from Bengal to Varanasi. They planned the robbery and murder and brought two friends from Samastipur, Bihar, to execute it.

How the Crime Unfolded
The accused lured Dheeraj to Bagodar with a pretext and then took him to the Santarupi forest area. At a hotel nearby, the group consumed alcohol before taking Dheeraj into the forest under the guise of giving him cannabis. There, he was beaten with rods and killed. Following the murder, the gang drove the truck away but abandoned it near Hansdiha in Dumka after sensing police alertness.

Police Investigation and Arrests
CCTV footage from cameras near Santarupi helped unravel the murder and robbery. Based on the evidence, the police arrested Jainul Khan and Md. Dawood from Hussain Nagar, Bagodar, and Dwarika Singh from Samastipur, Bihar. The recovered items included the TMT steel-loaded truck, rods, and clothing of the deceased driver. Police continue to search for the remaining two fugitives through ongoing raids.

The investigation underscores the effective coordination of Giridih police in solving violent crimes involving premeditated robbery and murder.
