Baitul, Madhya Pradesh: The temptation of a fish almost cost a giant python its life. While trying to feast on fish trapped in a river net, the massive serpent, locally known as “Nagraj,” became entangled and struggled desperately to escape. The frantic scene caught the attention of a local fisherman, who quickly alerted wildlife rescuers.
Caught in the Net
In the Ratamati village of Baitul, a fisherman had set up a net in the Machna River to catch fish. Upon checking the net later, he was stunned to find not just fish but a nearly 10-foot-long python trapped inside. The snake struggled violently, becoming more entangled with every movement.
Rescue Operation
Realizing the danger to the python’s life, the fisherman immediately contacted a local snake rescuer. Carefully and patiently, the rescuer cut the net to free the snake, ensuring it remained unharmed. Once freed, the giant python was safely released back into the forest.
Close Call for “Nagraj”
Had the snake not been rescued in time, it could have suffocated or injured itself badly in the net. Thanks to quick action and expert handling, the massive python survived the ordeal unharmed, returning safely to its natural habitat.
