Ghaziabad: The investigation into the shocking triple suicide of three sisters in Ghaziabad has taken a new turn. Police sources reveal that the father’s negligence, combined with the limited education and memory-related health issues of his first and second wives, significantly contributed to the lack of proper care for the children, ultimately leading to this tragic outcome.
Authorities are questioning family members, relatives, and neighbors, but concrete leads have yet to emerge. However, preliminary findings indicate that the mothers’ health problems and educational limitations affected their ability to manage household responsibilities. This lack of supervision reportedly pushed the girls toward excessive use of mobile phones, eventually culminating in their suicides.
Parental Health and Education Challenges
During a three-hour interrogation, the girls’ maternal grandfather, aunt, and uncle disclosed that the father had married two women—both only fifth-grade pass—who suffered from severe memory issues. This hindered their ability to care for the children effectively. The father later married a third woman, a Muslim youth, to assist with childcare, but she too was unable to fulfill this responsibility.
As a result, the three sisters grew up largely unsupervised, becoming deeply engrossed in mobile devices. Police sources stated that the mothers’ forgetfulness was so severe that even routine household duties were often neglected, weakening the family’s overall structure.
Mobile Addiction and Lack of Supervision
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019, the father provided the girls with mobile phones for educational purposes. However, due to the mothers’ limited literacy and memory problems, no proper monitoring was in place. The children spent hours watching reels and rarely left their rooms. Six months prior to the incident, the father confiscated and sold one mobile phone, and 15 days before the suicides, he did the same with a second device. Unable to cope with this restriction, the girls took their own lives. Experts highlight that parental health issues can profoundly affect children’s mental well-being, particularly in such scenarios.
Father’s Lifestyle and Financial Struggles
Investigations also revealed a stark contrast between the father’s lavish lifestyle and his family’s financial struggles. He had not paid rent for his office flat for six months and for the residential flat for three months. While he publicly claimed that his finances were stable, police findings indicate otherwise.
Authorities continue to probe several unresolved questions, including why the mothers’ medical conditions were not treated and why the children’s mobile addiction was not addressed earlier. The investigation is ongoing, and police expect more details to surface soon.
