Ghaziabad: Transformer Explosion in Khoda Leaves Five Burned; Shocking Video Surfaces

Ghaziabad, UP – A major accident occurred on Friday in the Khoda area of Ghaziabad, near Delhi, when a transformer in Rajiv Vihar exploded with a loud blast. The explosion was so intense that the boiling oil inside the transformer splashed onto people passing by, igniting their clothes. A viral video shows a young man running on the road with his clothes on fire, desperately trying to save himself.

Five people suffered severe burn injuries in the incident. Eyewitnesses reported that after the oil spilled, one young man ran screaming with his clothes ablaze and eventually jumped into a drain to escape the flames. The blast caused panic in the area, and the shockwaves from the explosion were so strong that before anyone could react, five individuals were already engulfed by the hot oil.

Delay in Official Response

Residents immediately contacted the electricity department after the incident. However, they alleged that officials and staff arrived at the site nearly an hour later. Khoda police station in-charge Naresh Kumar Sharma confirmed that the victims are Kamlesh Chaudhary, Abhinav, Ajit, Anil, and Kamal.

Amit Singh, Executive Engineer of the electricity department, stated that the transformer was installed near a cinema hall to prevent electricity theft. He added that an internal fault caused the explosion, and a thorough investigation is underway.
