Ghaziabad:
In a horrifying incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district, a 32-year-old man has lost his ability to speak for life after his wife allegedly bit off his tongue during a domestic altercation, reportedly triggered by a dispute over social media activity.
The incident occurred on the night of January 19 in Sanjaypuri Colony of Modinagar, sending shockwaves through the locality.
Tongue Could Not Be Reattached
The victim, identified as Vipin, was recently discharged from a hospital in Meerut. Doctors confirmed that despite emergency medical intervention, they were unable to reattach the severed portion of the tongue.
Medical experts stated that even reconstructive plastic surgery would not restore normal speech, leaving the victim permanently speech-impaired.
Family members have preserved the severed portion in a freezer, as advised, for evidentiary purposes during court proceedings.
Dispute Allegedly Linked to Instagram Reels
According to police and family statements, the accused wife Isha was actively creating and uploading Instagram reels and allegedly did not prepare food that evening.
When Vipin returned home from duty and asked for dinner, an argument broke out, which soon escalated into physical violence. During the scuffle, Isha allegedly bit off her husband’s tongue, causing severe bleeding and critical injury.
Accused Arrested, Sent to Jail
Following a complaint lodged by Vipin’s mother, Modinagar police arrested the accused woman and sent her to judicial custody. Police officials stated that the charge sheet will be filed shortly after completion of the investigation.
Victim in Deep Trauma
After returning home, Vipin remains in deep psychological shock. Family members said he has confined himself to his room and is unwilling to meet visitors.
Using gestures, Vipin conveyed that he does not wish to maintain any marital relationship with the accused in the future.
Police Investigation Ongoing
Police officials said statements of family members have been recorded, medical reports collected, and further legal action will be taken under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over rising domestic violence cases and the psychological impact of social media obsession on family life.
