
Ghaziabad: A case of a minor girl being coerced into changing her religion for marriage has come to light in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred in the Kanavani area under Indirapuram police station. Hindu organizations alerted authorities, leading to police intervention and the prevention of the marriage.
The minor, a resident of Faridabad, had been lured by a local youth who kept her at a relative’s home in preparation for the wedding. Police reached the location in time, stopped the marriage, and handed the girl back to her family. The accused youth and his family members were taken into custody, and a formal investigation is underway.
Bajrang Dal Alert
Amit Parashar, Special Contact Head of Bajrang Dal Harnandi, said the organization received information about the incident on 1 February at around 4 PM. Acting swiftly, Bajrang Dal workers reached the area and confirmed the situation before informing the police. Initially, the accused tried to mislead by claiming a birthday party was being organized. However, the organization members discovered that the minor was being forcibly married. The police, upon arrival, prevented the ceremony, and the accused and the girl were taken away.
Youth and Minor Traced in Noida
Following the intervention, the police located both the youth and the minor late on the same night in Noida. The minor revealed that the accused lived near her home in Faridabad and had previously manipulated her emotionally. On 19 January, he had taken her from her home in Kanavani, Ghaziabad, with the intent of forcing the marriage.
ACP Abhishek Srivastava of Indirapuram police stated that the girl has been safely handed over to her parents, and further legal action is underway against the accused and his family.
