Ghaziabad: As 2025 draws to a close, the Ghaziabad Police Commissionerate has launched a decisive crackdown targeting active criminals in the city. The operation focuses on apprehending 226 history-sheeters with longstanding criminal records and alleged involvement in serious crimes. The aim is to usher in the new year with a safer, crime-free environment.
Intensive Verification and Targeting
Additional Police Commissioner Alok Priyadarshi stated that in recent months, a large-scale verification campaign was conducted across the district to gather information on thousands of suspected and active offenders. Following this, the police have now zeroed in on the 226 active history-sheeters who are already well-documented in police records and implicated in serious criminal cases.
Special Teams Deployed
To carry out the arrests, all police stations in the district have coordinated to form 24 special teams. Each team comprises experienced sub-inspectors, beat constables, and personnel skilled in technical surveillance. Digital data related to the history-sheeters’ movements, hideouts, and contacts has been meticulously compiled to ensure no gaps in the operation.
Tracking and Surveillance
ADC Priyadarshi explained that beat-level police officers have been assigned the responsibility of maintaining continuous monitoring within their jurisdictions. Locations of the history-sheeters are being tracked using CCTV footage, informant networks, and technical intelligence. Suspicious activities are being reported immediately to the central command.
Court Presentation by Year-End
All teams have been instructed to ensure that the targeted history-sheeters are arrested and presented in court before December 31. Priyadarshi emphasized that this campaign is a crucial step in dismantling old criminal networks and establishing stronger law enforcement control over crime in 2026.
