Ghaziabad MLA Dismisses Student’s Allegations Over Flooded Roads as Conspiracy

Ghaziabad | 30 Jan 2026

After heavy rains caused severe waterlogging in Loni, Ghaziabad, a video of a schoolgirl holding local MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar responsible for the condition went viral on social media. Speaking to the media, Gurjar denied the allegations, calling them baseless and a deliberate attempt to defame him.

The MLA claimed that the controversy is orchestrated by his political rivals, municipal chairperson Ranjit Dhama and her husband, former chairperson Manoj Dhama. Gurjar said, “The girl is too young to understand who is actually responsible for the waterlogging. The municipality, not the MLA, is accountable for road conditions and drainage maintenance. My opponents are using minor children and small-time YouTubers to tarnish my image.”

Allegations of Municipal Mismanagement

Gurjar accused the municipal authorities of years of negligence in cleaning drains, which has resulted in severe blockages. He alleged that municipal officials, in collusion with the chairperson, have engaged in fraudulent practices by inflating manpower for drain-cleaning projects to siphon off funds, while the drains remain clogged.

Ongoing Road Repair Work

Regarding the poor condition of roads in Loni, particularly the Delhi-Saharanpur route, the MLA said the tender has been awarded and contractors are currently filling major potholes. He added that rain has slowed progress but promised that all roads would be repaired and pothole-free by 22 February. The local weather department has forecast further rainfall until 2 February, after which the repair work will accelerate.
