Ghaziabad, UP: A shocking case of murder unfolded in Ghaziabad after a man was arrested for killing his girlfriend in a hotel room and spending the night next to her body. The accused, Praveen Kumar, confessed that an argument escalated into a deadly assault, leading to the death of 35-year-old Aarti.
According to the police, Praveen, a sanitation worker from Sevanagar, Nandgram, had been in a relationship with Aarti for the past three years. Aarti’s husband, Rohit, had passed away nearly two years ago, after which her interactions with Praveen reportedly increased.
On the night of 10 January, the couple checked into Hotel New Royal King in Patel Nagar, where they consumed alcohol. During the stay, a heated argument broke out. Aarti allegedly slapped Praveen and scratched his face, after which he struck her repeatedly with elbows and fists, targeting her ribs. The blows proved fatal.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Nandgram, Upasana Pandey, stated that Praveen admitted to sleeping next to Aarti’s body throughout the night. He reportedly left the hotel the following morning in a state of panic. When hotel staff questioned him, he initially feigned ignorance about her condition before eventually confessing to the crime during police interrogation.
The case highlights the lethal consequences of domestic disputes escalating into physical violence. Investigations are ongoing, and the accused remains in police custody.
