Ghaziabad is set to become a safer city with the addition of 350 state-of-the-art CCTV cameras, which will be directly connected to the police control room by January. This initiative, led by the Municipal Corporation, aims to enhance security and monitor public spaces more effectively.
A Comprehensive Surveillance Plan
To bolster the city’s safety measures, the Municipal Corporation, in coordination with the police, has issued work orders for the installation of high-tech cameras across key locations in Ghaziabad. These cameras will cover busy intersections, crowded areas, and public parks, ensuring continuous monitoring.
Previously, over 1,500 private CCTV cameras from homes, shops, malls, and other establishments were integrated into the city’s control room system. The addition of these 350 high-tech cameras will further strengthen surveillance at major locations across the city.
Government Approval and Deployment Details
The Municipal Corporation had submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the state government for approval to install these cameras, which has now been granted. Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik confirmed that the work orders have been issued. The cameras will be installed at:
- City Zone: 26 locations
- Vijaynagar Zone: 12 locations
- Kavi Nagar Zone: 21 locations
- Mohan Nagar Zone: 19 locations
- Vasundhara Zone: 25 locations
Monitoring Public Parks
Several prominent city parks will also come under the surveillance network, including Hindon Eco Park, Sai Upvan, Subhash Chandra Bose Park, Geeta Park, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Park, Rajnagar Sector 4 Community Centre, Kaladham, Khajur Wala Park, Vasundhara Sector-6 Adarsh Park, and Swami Vivekananda Park in Vijaynagar Sector-9 South, among others.
Separate from Traffic Management System
The Municipal Commissioner clarified that this surveillance initiative is distinct from the city’s Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS), under which 800 cameras are already operational at 41 intersections. Starting January, the ITMS will also fully enforce traffic regulations, issuing fines to violators detected by the cameras.
With these measures, Ghaziabad is taking a decisive step toward becoming a modern, digitally-monitored city, keeping its citizens safe while ensuring law and order.
