Police in Ghaziabad have cracked the case of the shocking murder of a local farmer-lawyer, popularly known as Leelu, in Sultanpur village. Investigations revealed that a long-standing dispute over a female acquaintance led to the fatal attack.
The accused, Gulhasan, was apprehended following a police encounter. ACP Masuri Amit Saxena stated that a tip-off had placed Gulhasan near Bhovapur. When police signaled him to stop, he attempted to flee and fired at the officers. In response, police shot Gulhasan in the leg, injuring him, before taking him into custody. A pistol, ammunition, and a motorcycle were recovered from him.
Dispute over female acquaintance led to murder
During interrogation, Gulhasan admitted that the victim had been in contact with a female friend of his, which sparked suspicion and jealousy. Six months prior, the two men had already clashed over the same issue. On the day of the incident, the confrontation escalated when they met in the fields, and in a fit of rage, Gulhasan struck the farmer-lawyer on the head with a hammer, resulting in his death.
The body of the farmer-lawyer was discovered on Monday afternoon in fields near Bhadauli, following his disappearance. Visible hammer marks on the skull confirmed the suspicion of murder. The police had launched a thorough investigation after a complaint was filed by the victim’s son, Sameer, and have now solved the case with the arrest of the perpetrator.
