
Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh: In a major drive to keep the city clean, Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has imposed fines totaling ₹6.57 lakh in the past week on individuals and businesses found littering and using banned plastics in market areas. The initiative is ongoing across all five municipal zones.
Citywide Enforcement and Awareness Drive
Teams from the Health Department have actively carried out inspections, with special emphasis on market areas. Awareness boards have been installed in key locations, including the RDC Rajnagar area, to inform citizens that fines will be strictly levied for littering in public spaces. Residents can report violations or request garbage collection through the 311 application or by calling the helpline at 18001803012.
Zone-wise Fines Collected
- Vijaynagar Zone: The team led by Sanitary and Food Inspector Shweta Singh conducted inspections in Samrat Chowk and Pratap Vihar markets, collecting ₹1,69,000 in fines.
- City Zone: During the plastic-free campaign, ₹57,000 was collected in areas including Ghantaghar, Ramte Ram Road, Bajaria, Lohia Nagar, and Patel Nagar.
- Mohan Nagar Zone: Inspections at Shyam Park and Lajpat Nagar Market resulted in ₹35,000 in fines.
- Kavi Nagar Zone: Markets in Rajnagar, Govidpuram, Shastri Nagar, and Sector-23 saw fines amounting to ₹3,22,000.
- Vasundhara Zone: Actions in Indirapuram Shakti Khand, Vaishali Sector-4, and Vasundhara Sector-15 collected ₹1,74,000.
Officials Emphasize Public Responsibility
Municipal Health Officer Dr. Mithilesh highlighted that these campaigns are aimed not just at enforcement, but also at raising public awareness and fostering a sense of civic responsibility.
