Ghaziabad: Case Filed Against Deceased Head Clerk for Rs. 80,000 Embezzlement at Bhojpur Police Station

Ghaziabad: The Bhojpur police station in Modinagar is once again in the spotlight after a fresh case of embezzlement worth Rs. 80,000 surfaced from the station’s record room. Shockingly, the alleged officer involved, former Head Clerk Gajendra Singh, passed away in March 2024, yet a case has been registered against him.

According to sources, Gajendra Singh served as the Head Clerk at Bhojpur Police Station about three years ago. The station’s record room stores seized vehicles, weapons recovered from criminals, cash, and other evidence, all under the Head Clerk’s supervision. During a recent audit, discrepancies were discovered in the Rs. 80,000 stored in the record room, prompting senior officials to be informed.

The investigation was assigned to ACP Masuri and ACP Wave City. The inquiry report identified Gajendra Singh as responsible. Upon checking, authorities learned of his death in March 2024. Nevertheless, the station in-charge proceeded to file an embezzlement case against him.

ACP Modinagar Bhaskar Verma stated that he was unaware of such a case being registered, raising concerns over departmental coordination and procedural lapses. Questions have emerged over why the embezzlement went undetected for three years, how regular audits and inspections failed, and the legal grounds for filing a case against a deceased employee.

This revelation comes shortly after the station was already under scrutiny for action against 10 police personnel, including an SHO, in a fake passport verification case, highlighting ongoing administrative challenges at the Bhojpur police station.
