Ghaziabad / Mumbai:
Grand bridal entries have become common in Indian weddings, but a ceremony in Ghaziabad has now set a new benchmark — one that has shattered Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra’s globally acclaimed record.
On 22 November, Mumbai resident Harshita Chauhan made a stunning entrance at her wedding wearing a 151-foot-long red bridal veil, surpassing Priyanka Chopra’s 121-foot Christian wedding veil. Guests were left spellbound as the veil stretched dramatically across the aisle, becoming the highlight of the evening.
Guests Stunned, Thought It Was a Stage Effect
As Harshita walked into the venue, the sight of the long trailing veil initially made several guests believe it was a part of the décor or a special visual effect. However, as camera flashes lit up the hall, it became clear that the bride herself was carrying a veil long enough to rewrite history.
Application Filed for Limca Book of Records
The 151-foot red dupatta has now been officially submitted to the Limca Book of Records. If approved, Harshita will be recognised for the longest bridal veil ever worn in an Indian wedding.
Prepared in Just Two Days for Only ₹10,000
Despite its grandeur, the veil was not sourced from any high-end couture house.
It was crafted from fabric bought at Ghaziabad’s Ghantaghar Market, where 10 skilled artisans worked day and night to complete it in just two days. The intricate embroidery, delicate zari work, and balanced design cost a surprisingly modest ₹10,000.
A Dream Idea Supported by Groom Gaurav Singh
Harshita, who works in a private firm in Pune, said the idea came to her a month ago. She wanted something “memorable and magical” for her wedding. Her husband, Gaurav Singh, an IT professional, immediately approved the unique plan.
“Felt Like a Fairy Tale,” Say Children and Guests
Harshita’s father, a retired Army officer, said the veil transformed the wedding into a historic family moment.
The fully spread veil left guests astonished — women touched it to feel its length, children compared it to scenes from fairy tales, and relatives called the entry “cinematic,” “royal,” and “once in a lifetime.”
Official Certificate Expected in a Month
The family expects the official record certificate within the next month. Meanwhile, videos of Harshita’s extraordinary bridal entry have gone viral across social media platforms.
