
Ghaziabad: Following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process by the Election Commission on 26 December, major changes have been reported in Ghaziabad’s voter list. A total of 8,39,142 voters have been removed from the rolls due to non-verification. However, affected voters can still re-enroll using Form-6.
SIR Brings Major Changes in Voter Rolls
The SIR process, which concluded on Friday, was carried out across all five assembly constituencies in Ghaziabad. Before the revision, there were 28,37,991 registered voters in the district. Post-verification, 19,99,184 voters (70.44%) remained on the rolls, while 8,39,142 (29.57%) were excluded. Additionally, 3,35,890 voters could not be traced, and 31,661 voters failed to submit forms.
District Magistrate and Chief Electoral Officer Ravindra Kumar Mandar reviewed the results with representatives from all political parties and briefed them about the SIR process.
Other Findings from the Revision
- 3,62,882 voters were found to have permanently changed addresses.
- 63,834 voters were deceased.
Officials emphasized that notices will be sent to all excluded voters, providing a full opportunity to update their registration.
Form-6 to the Rescue
Mandar stated that voters whose names were excluded can re-register using Form-6. This includes:
- Young citizens turning 18 by 1 January 2026.
- Voters who did not submit forms due to previous addresses.
Online and Offline Registration Options
Form-6 can be submitted online via the Voter Helpline App or the Election Commission portal voters.eci.gov.in. Offline applications require submitting a completed Form-6 along with a signed declaration and valid ID to the respective BLO (Booth Level Officer). Acceptable identification includes government-issued ID cards, pension orders, birth certificates, passport, recognized educational certificates, or other valid documents issued before 1 July 1987.

Neighboring Hapur Sees Similar Exclusions
In Hapur, 2,58,830 voters were removed post-SIR from a total of 11,56,699. Out of these, 8,97,893 voters participated in the verification, while 56,881 could not be traced. 1,21,626 voters had permanently changed addresses, 35,736 were deceased, and 2,588 did not submit forms. Hapur DM Abhishek Pandey stated that Form-6 will allow these voters to be reinstated after verification.
