In a major relief to consumers and businesses, Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (Jaipur DISCOM) has announced a significant reduction in cable testing charges for new electricity connections. The move is expected to lower the overall cost of setting up new power connections across industrial, commercial, and residential projects.
The revised decision brings down cable testing fees by 20% to as much as 62%, making electricity access more affordable and easing the financial burden on new applicants.
Lower Fees for HT and LT Connections
According to Jaipur DISCOM officials, the maximum cable testing fee for High Tension (HT) connections has been reduced from ₹81,381 to ₹55,000.
For Low Tension (LT) connections, the charges have been slashed sharply from ₹54,257 to ₹20,750, offering substantial relief, especially to smaller projects and residential developments.
Boost for Industry and Infrastructure
The decision will directly benefit industrial units, shopping malls, commercial complexes, and multi-storey residential projects. In projects where developers install their own power cables, safety norms require mandatory testing at the DISCOM’s central laboratory. With the reduced fees, this compliance process is now faster, more affordable, and business-friendly.
Part of Government’s Two-Year Milestone Initiatives
The fee cut comes as the BJP-led Rajasthan government completes two years in office. To mark the occasion, the state government has rolled out several public-centric measures and development initiatives, while also showcasing its performance and progress through district- and divisional-level programmes across the state.
The reduction in cable testing charges is being seen as a pro-investment step, aimed at encouraging industrial growth, infrastructure development, and ease of doing business in Rajasthan.
