Get Your Family ID from Home, or Risk Missing Out on Government Schemes: Complete Process Explained

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad administration has urged citizens to register for a Family ID as soon as possible. This ID, part of the “One Family, One Identity” initiative, could soon become mandatory for accessing several government schemes and services.

Register Your Family ID from Home
The local administration has appealed to residents to obtain a Family ID under the state government’s unified digital identity scheme. The Family ID aims to ensure transparent delivery of various government benefits directly to eligible beneficiaries. Citizens can apply for their Family ID online through the familyid.up.gov.in portal or visit the nearest Jan Suvidha Kendra (Public Service Center) for assistance.

Why Family ID is Important
The Family ID creates a consolidated digital identity for each family. It enables the government to track which families are receiving benefits and identify those who are eligible but remain unserved. The system also helps prevent fraudulent claims and ensures benefits reach the right families without repeated paperwork or multiple certificates.

Why It May Soon Be Mandatory
The government aims to maintain a centralized database of all families in the state. In the future, the Family ID may be required for services such as ration distribution, scholarships, pensions, housing schemes, self-employment programs, skill training, and employment-related initiatives.

Families without a Family ID may face delays or obstacles in availing these benefits. Officials have warned that failing to register on time could result in eligible families being denied access to schemes.

Risks of Delaying Registration
Officials explained that government scheme databases will soon be linked with the Family ID. Families without the ID may have to undergo additional document verification and application processes. Priority in employment programs and skill development initiatives may also be given to Family ID holders. Therefore, postponing registration could create problems in the future.

Tips for Registration
When registering, ensure that all family members’ Aadhaar cards are linked to a valid mobile number. The registration process requires OTP verification for completion. For any questions or assistance, citizens can contact the helpline at 1076.
