‘Gangster’ Laduram Alias Laden Arrested for Extorting Trader Using Lawrence Bishnoi’s Name

Jodhpur, Rajasthan: In a daring case of impersonation and extortion, Rajasthan police have arrested a man for threatening a local businessman in the name of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The accused has been identified as Laduram, also known as Laden. The revelation about his identity surprised authorities, as he is not a real gangster.

The incident occurred in Jodhpur’s Sardarpura police station area. Laduram allegedly threatened the businessman with death and demanded a ransom of ₹5 lakh, claiming to act on behalf of Lawrence Bishnoi. The Sardarpura police swiftly launched an investigation and managed to apprehend the fake ‘gangster’.

How Laduram Was Caught

According to Jodhpur Police Deputy Commissioner Vineet Bansal, the businessman filed a complaint after receiving the threatening calls. Police traced the number used for the threats and found it linked to Jhanwar police station jurisdiction. A raid led to Laduram’s arrest from Jhanwar. During interrogation, Laduram confessed to the crime and was presented in court before being sent to jail.

“It was found that the accused is not a gangster but a daily-wage laborer,” Deputy Commissioner Bansal confirmed.

Who is Laduram Alias Laden?

Laduram, a resident of Jatawas in Jhanwar, Jodhpur, survives on daily wages. Police sources revealed that he is addicted to substances and was in urgent need of money. Unable to arrange funds through legitimate means, he resorted to threatening the businessman by invoking Lawrence Bishnoi’s name.

Police Statement and Investigation

Jhanwar police station officer-in-charge Prahlad Singh said further investigation is ongoing to determine whether Laduram has any real links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. “The inquiry will reveal the truth. For now, he has been sent to jail,” Singh stated.

Not the First Case

This is not the first instance of extortion in Jodhpur using the Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s name. In February alone, four major cases were reported, including a demand of ₹2 crore from two officials at the Chopasani Housing Board. Police have urged citizens not to be intimidated by such threatening calls and to report incidents immediately.
