Ganga Expressway, Noida Airport, 1.5 Lakh Government Jobs: Yogi Government’s 10 Major Gifts to Uttar Pradesh in 2026

Lucknow, UP: Uttar Pradesh is set for a year of development, employment, and investment opportunities in 2026. Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government is preparing to deliver ten major initiatives that will benefit youth, farmers, industries, and the general public. These projects are expected to simplify daily life, strengthen the state’s economy, and boost infrastructure. Key highlights include the launch of the long-awaited Ganga Expressway, the Noida International Airport, and massive government recruitment. Here’s a closer look at the top ten promises for 2026:

1. 1.5 Lakh Government Jobs for Youth
The state government plans to fill over 1.5 lakh positions across various departments. The police and education sectors will account for nearly 50,000 jobs each. In the police department, approximately 30,000 constables, 5,000 sub-inspectors, and 15,000 other posts will be filled. The education department will recruit for roles from assistant teachers to principals. Additionally, 20,000 positions in the revenue department, including a significant number of clerks, and around 30,000 positions across health, housing, child development, and other departments will also be announced. Recruitment advertisements are expected soon.

2. Noida International Airport Inauguration
The upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, adjacent to Delhi, will become one of India’s largest international airports. Spread over 3,300 acres with an estimated cost of ₹7,000 crore, the airport will initially operate with one runway and can expand to five runways in the future. The airport’s annual passenger capacity is expected to be 1 crore, with an average of 150 daily flights.

3. Ganga Expressway to Boost Economic Growth
The 594 km-long Ganga Expressway, connecting Prayagraj to Meerut, will be inaugurated in 2026. Covering 12 districts and 518 villages, the ₹36,230 crore project will reduce travel time significantly while boosting industrial, agricultural, and commercial activities across the state.

4. Fifth Groundbreaking Ceremony
The Yogi government will hold its fifth groundbreaking ceremony in early 2026, launching projects worth over ₹5 lakh crore. So far, four ceremonies have attracted over ₹15 lakh crore in investments and created more than 60 lakh jobs, presenting UP as a top investment destination.

5. Global Investors Summit
A grand Global Investors Summit is planned in 2026, following the success of 2023’s GIS, which received investment proposals exceeding ₹35 lakh crore. Nationwide and international roadshows will be conducted to attract more investments.

6. ‘Nivesh Mitra 3.0’ for Ease of Doing Business
The state’s single-window clearance system, Nivesh Mitra 3.0, will be upgraded with advanced technical features in 2026 to facilitate faster approvals for investors.

7. 53 Types of Surgeries in AYUSH Hospitals
From 2026, AYUSH hospitals in UP will offer 53 types of minor surgeries, reducing pressure on allopathic facilities and ensuring timely treatment for patients.

8. Strict Regulation on Codeine Medicines
The government will implement stringent rules to curb the illegal sale of codeine cough syrups and NDPS-category medicines. Wholesale establishments will require geo-tagging, detailed stock audits, and verification of technical personnel by drug inspectors.

9. Cybercrime Prevention Measures
To combat the rising trend of cyber fraud, the government will double the staffing of call centers handling cybercrime complaints in 2026. Currently, staff of 20 in three shifts operate at Dial-112, and 30 staff in three shifts at the Lucknow DCP South office; both will see enhanced capacity.

10. Kanpur–Lucknow Expressway Operational
The 63 km Kanpur–Lucknow Expressway, costing ₹4,700 crore, will be operational by February 2026. Travel time between the two cities will reduce drastically from 2–3 hours to just 40 minutes, connecting seamlessly to Lucknow Airport.

A Year of Opportunities
For the people of Uttar Pradesh, 2026 promises a year full of hope. With development, employment, and investment on the rise, the state is set to write a new chapter in economic growth. Major infrastructure projects like the Shamli–Gorakhpur Expressway are expected to progress further, while new initiatives for women’s empowerment could be introduced in the state budget.
