A humble vegetable vendor from Kotputli, Jaipur, Amit Sehra, has had his life transformed overnight after winning the ₹11 crore top prize in the Punjab State Lottery Diwali Bumper 2025. Remarkably, Amit bought the winning ticket after borrowing just ₹500 from a friend.
How It Happened
Amit, while visiting Moga with a friend, purchased two lottery tickets—one in his name and another in his wife’s name. Interestingly, the ticket purchased in his wife’s name won ₹1,000, while Amit’s ticket secured the ₹11 crore grand prize. He traveled to Chandigarh to formally claim his winnings a few days after the results were announced.
“I still can’t believe my luck. I thank the Punjab government and the lottery agency for this life-changing opportunity. I bought the tickets with a friend, borrowing ₹1,000 from him. Today, all my hardships seem gone,” Amit said, overwhelmed with joy.
A Generous Gesture
Amit also announced a generous plan for his friend’s daughters, giving ₹50,000 each from his winnings. “I lost my mother, so I understand the pain of children. The rest of the money will go toward my children’s education and building a home,” Amit shared.
Claiming the Prize
A lottery official explained that winners must submit a claim form along with their original ticket, bank account details, and personal information at the Punjab government office. Only tickets purchased at authorized counters are valid, as the Punjab government does not run any online lottery schemes.
A Life Transformed
Amit Sehra supports a 16-member family and does not even use a mobile phone. When informed by his friend that he had won the lottery, Amit initially thought it was a joke. It was only after lottery officials personally visited his home that he realized he had truly won ₹11 crore.
