Friendship Turns into Betrayal in Vrindavan: Youth Blackmails Woman After Making Obscene Video, Police Launch Manhunt

A shocking case of betrayal and cyber blackmail has come to light from the holy town of Vrindavan, where a young woman was allegedly trapped, filmed secretly and later blackmailed by a man she considered a friend. The accused, identified as Prince Thakur, is said to be associated with facilitating devotees’ visits at the Banke Bihari Temple.

According to the police complaint filed by the victim, Prince Thakur had known her for a long time and had gained her trust. A few weeks ago, he allegedly called her to meet at a café in Mathura. During the meeting, he deceitfully recorded an objectionable video of the woman without her consent. When she later came to know about the recording, the accused assured her that the video would never be shown to anyone.

Blackmail for ₹1 Lakh, Videos Made Viral

The matter took a disturbing turn when the accused allegedly began blackmailing the woman, demanding ₹1 lakh in exchange for deleting the video. When the victim expressed her inability to pay such a large amount, the accused crossed all limits and allegedly uploaded two obscene videos on social media platforms, including Facebook, causing severe mental distress to the woman.

As the videos went viral, panic spread in the area, prompting the victim to approach the police.

FIR Registered, Police Teams Formed

Taking the complaint seriously, the police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the IT Act and charges related to blackmail and exploitation. Senior officials have constituted two special police teams to track down the accused and any associates who may have assisted in circulating the videos.

CO Sadar Pitam Pal Singh said that immediate action has been initiated. “Based on the victim’s complaint, a case has been registered. Police teams are conducting raids to arrest the accused. With the help of the cyber cell, efforts are also underway to remove the objectionable videos from social media,” he said.

Probe into Possible Repeat Offences

Police are also investigating whether the accused has used similar tactics against other women in the past. Officials have assured strict action and emphasized that such crimes involving digital exploitation and breach of trust will not be tolerated.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns over cyber safety, misuse of social media, and crimes committed under the guise of friendship, even in places known for their spiritual and religious significance.
