Jaipur: A controversy erupted at Jaipur’s Rajput Hostel on Thursday when former Congress minister Rajendra Gudha entered the premises by scaling the wall after the main gate was locked. Gudha leveled serious allegations against the hostel committee for mismanagement and improper handling of senior visitors.
Gate Locked, Gudha Climbs Wall
Gudha arrived at the hostel to inspect the facilities. Anticipating his visit, the hostel warden had locked the main gate. When Gudha requested entry, the warden refused. In response, Gudha climbed onto the roof using wooden ladders and walls, then descended inside the hostel via another ladder. He verbally admonished the warden for locking the gate and also called Rajput Sabha president Ram Singh Chandlai to question the action. In frustration, he reportedly asked, “Is this hostel your father’s property?”
Allegations Against Hostel Committee
Gudha, who previously resided in the hostel as a senior student, criticized the committee for denying entry to senior alumni. He claimed that the Rajput Sabha had carried out no development work in the hostel over the past 40–50 years, with floors, ceilings, fans, and walls remaining in their original state. He pointed out that Room No. 1, where he had stayed, remains unchanged even after decades.
Accusations of Financial Exploitation
During his inspection, Gudha inquired about hostel fees and was informed that each student pays ₹25,000. He alleged that the committee employs staff with salaries of ₹50,000–60,000 who perform no work. He claimed that money collected in the name of development is misused, while no actual maintenance or renovation has been carried out over decades. Gudha highlighted that many students come from economically weaker families and accused the committee of exploiting them financially.
