Former Lt. General S. Mann Dies in Hit-and-Run Accident in Panchkula

Panchkula, Haryana: Former Lieutenant General S. Mann passed away following a hit-and-run accident in Panchkula. The incident occurred on Friday evening while he was out for a walk near his residence in Sector 4. He was found injured on the road and taken to Command Hospital, Western Command, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

According to the police, an unidentified vehicle struck Mann during his evening walk. The former officer had served as a Colonel in the Bihar Regiment during the 1990s. He was also the brother of the late Brigadier Sukhi Mann of the Parachute Regiment. Mann is survived by his wife and two sons, one serving as a Colonel in the Indian Army and the other in the Canadian Police.

Acting SHO of Mansa Devi Complex, Sukhwinder, said that the post-mortem will be conducted once Mann’s son returns. Police are examining nearby CCTV footage, although no cameras were installed on the road where the accident occurred. Panchkula ACP Dinesh Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered against the unidentified vehicle driver under relevant legal provisions, and the investigation is ongoing.

Major R.S. Virk expressed his condolences, saying, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic demise of Lt. General Mann. As a fellow golfer, I shared many memorable moments with him on the course. His loss leaves a profound void in our community.”
