Former Behror MLA Baljeet Yadav Arrested by ED in ₹3.72 Crore MLA Fund Embezzlement Case

Jaipur: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested former Behror MLA Baljeet Yadav in connection with an alleged misuse of MLA Local Area Development (LAD) funds and a money laundering investigation involving more than ₹3.72 crore. The arrest was carried out by the ED’s Jaipur regional unit late Tuesday night.

According to officials, Yadav was taken into custody near the Shahjahanpur toll plaza on the Delhi–Jaipur highway in Alwar district, close to an NHAI office. He was subsequently brought to the ED office in Jaipur for questioning and formally arrested after preliminary interrogation.

Massive searches conducted earlier

ED sources revealed that large-scale searches were conducted in January 2025 at properties linked to Yadav. Raids were carried out at eight locations in Jaipur and one location each in Dausa and Behror. Investigators reportedly recovered key documents and evidence during those operations, which later formed the basis for continued inquiry and eventual arrest.

On January 24, 2025, the agency conducted coordinated search operations at 10 premises across Jaipur, Dausa and Behror as part of its money laundering probe.

Allegations linked to sports kit purchases

The investigation centers around alleged irregularities in the 2021–22 financial year, when sports equipment was procured for 32 government schools in the Behror assembly constituency. According to probe agencies, approximately ₹3.72 crore from the MLA LAD fund was spent on badminton and cricket kits.

Authorities allege large-scale financial irregularities and misuse of public funds in the procurement process. The ED is examining money trails, beneficiary entities and the broader network connected to the transactions.

Case registered under PMLA

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had earlier registered an FIR in the matter. Based on that case, the ED initiated its investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Officials said Yadav is currently being interrogated in detail, and further action may follow depending on the findings.

The agency has indicated that the probe remains ongoing and additional arrests cannot be ruled out.
