Satna: The Food Department conducted a surprise raid near the Satna railway station, targeting a restaurant and an adjoining samosa factory serving unhygienic food to passengers. During the operation, approximately 200 contaminated samosas were seized and destroyed. Fearing action, the restaurant operators shuttered the premises and fled the scene.
Unsanitary Conditions Exposed
Authorities had received repeated complaints regarding the preparation of samosas and sweets under filthy conditions. The three-member Food Department inspection team was appalled by the state of the factory, discovering garbage and unhygienic practices everywhere. Samples of samosas and sweets from the restaurant were also collected for further laboratory testing.
Supply to Trains Raises Public Health Concerns
Food Officer Abhishek Bihari Gaur revealed that the factory primarily supplied these samosas to train passengers. The consumption of food prepared in such unsanitary conditions posed a serious risk of food poisoning and illness to the public.
Strict Notices and Sealing Threats Issued
The operators of both establishments have been issued strict notices demanding immediate cleanliness and compliance. Food authorities have warned that failure to respond satisfactorily will result in the restaurant and factory being sealed immediately. The raid has sent shockwaves among other unauthorized food vendors in the station area, highlighting the administration’s crackdown on public health violations.
