Jaipur:Winter has not loosened its grip on Rajasthan yet. Even as the state experienced brief relief from cold over the past day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of another weather shift, issuing a yellow alert for rainfall in seven districts and dense fog in seventeen districts on Tuesday.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, changing wind patterns due to an active western disturbance are set to bring a mix of fog, cloud cover and light rainfall, leading to fluctuating temperatures across the state over the next 48 hours.
Contrasting Weather Across the State
Over the last 24 hours, Rajasthan witnessed sharply contrasting weather conditions. Barmer emerged as the hottest location in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 28.5 degrees Celsius, prompting residents to shed winter layers during the day. In contrast, parts of the Shekhawati region, including Sikar, Pilani and Fatehpur, experienced a drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in daytime temperatures, with cold winds maintaining a persistent chill.
Rain Alert in 7 Districts
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for light rainfall in the districts of
Kota, Baran, Jhalawar, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur and Banswara. Intermittent showers and light drizzle are likely in these areas, potentially accompanied by cloudy conditions.
Dense Fog Warning in 17 Districts
A dense fog alert has been issued for Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Alwar, Dausa, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, Bhilwara, Rajsamand, Udaipur and Bundi. Reduced visibility during early morning hours is expected to disrupt traffic and daily activities.
Cold Nights Continue
On Monday night, Pali recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 6.4 degrees Celsius. Several northern districts, including Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Bikaner and Churu, woke up to thick fog. In eastern Rajasthan, Karauli and Bharatpur also reported poor visibility, causing inconvenience to commuters. Cloud movement in the Hadoti region, including Kota, Bundi and Baran, kept sunlight at bay for much of the day.
Next 48 Hours Crucial
Weather experts have cautioned that the next two days will be crucial, as the active western disturbance may lead to light to moderate rainfall, with the possibility of hailstorms in isolated areas. While the rain could benefit some crops, it may pose challenges for farmers in certain regions.
The Meteorological Department has advised residents to exercise caution while driving in foggy conditions, use fog lights, and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from fluctuating cold temperatures.
