Fog Blankets Lucknow and Varanasi, Temperature Dips Below 8°C in Meerut and Etawah — Here’s the Latest UP Weather Update

Weather conditions across Uttar Pradesh continue to fluctuate sharply, with mornings turning foggy in several districts and temperatures dipping in many places. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the next few days may bring a slight rise in temperature, even as winter slowly approaches.

Winters Yet to Tighten Grip, but Nights Getting Colder

Despite the last week of November setting in, Uttar Pradesh has not yet witnessed severe cold. However, many districts are now recording minimum temperatures below 8°C, making nights noticeably chilly.
Etawah remained the coldest location with a minimum temperature of 7.4°C, while Meerut recorded 7.5°C. Barabanki, Bareilly, and Muzaffarnagar also reported lows of 8°C.

In Lucknow, the minimum temperature stood at 11.7°C, while the maximum reached 27.5°C.

Dry Weather Likely, Morning Fog to Continue

The IMD forecasts dry weather across both western and eastern Uttar Pradesh on 28, 29, and 30 November.
However, shallow to moderate fog is expected during the early morning hours across many districts.

The first few days of December are also likely to remain clear, though fog will continue to appear during morning hours due to shifting wind patterns.

Why Temperatures May Rise Slightly

Meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh said that maximum and minimum temperatures have increased slightly over the past 24 hours, and another 2°C rise is expected over the next 2–3 days.

The reason:

• A western disturbance is active over central Pakistan and adjoining Afghanistan.
• This system has triggered a cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan.
• As a result, the cold, dry northwesterly winds blowing into UP may weaken.
• Partial cloud cover is likely, which can also push temperatures upward.

Fog Likely During Early Mornings

With the western disturbance gaining strength, light fog formations are expected across several cities in the morning, although they will dissipate quickly as the day progresses.

On Thursday morning, Agra, Bareilly, Varanasi, Lucknow, Amethi, Kanpur, and Prayagraj all recorded light fog.
