FNG Expressway: 650-Meter Elevated Road at Chijarsi Cut to Be Surveyed Anew

Noida, February 12, 2026: The file for constructing a 650-meter elevated road at the Chijarsi Cut on the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway has been reopened, with a new survey planned. This elevated stretch will run from Chijarsi to the vicinity of the Bahlolpur underpass and is part of the NCR’s first expressway connecting the three major cities.

The project will undergo both short-term and long-term surveys, to be conducted by one of five shortlisted agencies, including CRRI, UMTC, DIMS, and IIT Delhi-Roorkee. The new Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared by NHAI Transport Consultancy (NTC), replacing the original estimate of around ₹700 crore for the elevated road.

Road Passing Over Chijarsi Village
The elevated road is designed to pass over Chijarsi village to minimize disruption for local residents. A second elevated stretch of 5.65 km is also proposed at the 14.610 km mark, crossing the Hindon River embankment, followed by an underpass connecting to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

Progress and Route Details
Approximately 70% of work along the 17 km section of the expressway has already been completed. The 23 km-long route begins at NH-24 in Ghaziabad, passing through Chijarsi, Bahlolpur, Sorakha, Sectors 112 and 140, the expressway, and Sector 168, before reaching Lalpur village in Faridabad.

Strategic Importance of FNG Expressway
This expressway will be the first direct corridor linking Faridabad, Noida, and Ghaziabad. Within the Noida section, plans include one elevated road, two underpasses, approach roads, and a 75-meter-wide connecting road. A 3.68 km underpass near Bahlolpur has already been constructed at a cost of ₹30.29 crore. The new 650-meter elevated plan at the 14.6 km mark is estimated to cost ₹633 crore.

An underpass of 17.595 km and a bridge over the Yamuna at Sector 168 are also part of the project, with the Haryana government funding 50% of the costs. Patch roads will connect all elevated sections, underpasses, and the bridge, ensuring smooth traffic flow.

The expressway will provide a direct route from Ghaziabad to Faridabad without having to pass through Delhi, easing commutes between Noida, Greater Noida West, and Faridabad. It will also reduce traffic pressure on the Kalindi Kunj and Noida Master Plan roads.

Key Benefits of the FNG Expressway:

  • Serves as a Delhi bypass for Ghaziabad-Faridabad commuters.
  • Eases travel from Noida/Ghaziabad to Faridabad and Gurugram.
  • Acts as a lifeline for Noida, Greater Noida West, and Greater Faridabad.
  • Reduces traffic congestion on Kalindi Kunj and Master Plan roads.
