Jaipur: Rajasthan’s weather has taken a turn as the first winter showers of the season arrive, bringing a chill across the state. Light to moderate rainfall has been reported since early morning in Jaipur, Alwar, Nagaur, and seven other districts. The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for 27–28 November, predicting further rains and a drop in temperatures across several regions.
Heavy Cold Expected Amid Rain
The state is entering a period of intense cold as the winter rain, or mawath, sets in. Showers began late Thursday night in several districts and are accompanied by gusty, chilly winds, increasing the cold’s impact. The rain is expected to continue into Friday evening, intensifying the winter chill.
Districts on Yellow Alert
Authorities have issued yellow alerts for Jaipur, Alwar, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Nagaur, Ajmer, Byawar, Salumber, Pratapgarh, and Tonk. Surrounding areas of these districts may also experience intermittent rainfall, according to the Meteorological Department. The active western disturbance has caused cloud formation and sporadic showers across the state.
Temperature to Drop Sharply
After a brief spell of sunny weather that brought temporary relief, temperatures are set to decline sharply. The Meteorological Director of Jaipur, Radheshyam Sharma, said a fall of 4–5°C is expected in a single day. The Shekhawati region is covered with fog, and a cold wave is forecasted in several districts during the first week of December.
