Firozabad, January 17, 2026: A tragic fire caused by a leaking LPG cylinder claimed the life of a seven-year-old boy and left three other children seriously injured in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on Friday night in Malviya Nagar locality under the Dakshin police station area, while the children were alone at home.
According to officials, the fire broke out while the children were cooking food. A suspected gas leak from the cylinder led to a sudden blaze, leaving all four siblings severely burned as they attempted to control the fire. Neighbours rushed to the spot after noticing the flames and immediately shifted the injured children to the district hospital.
The deceased child has been identified as Himanshu (7), who succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Saturday. His siblings—Kajal (15), Ananya (10), and Suraj (12)—are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, where their condition is reported to be serious but stable.
At the time of the incident, the children’s mother was admitted to the district hospital following a surgery, and their father, Dharmendra Kumar, was present there to take care of her. The children were alone at home when the accident occurred.
Local MLA Manish Asija visited the district hospital upon receiving information about the incident and ensured proper medical arrangements for the injured children by calling hospital authorities during the night.
The tragic incident has left the family devastated and cast a pall of grief over the neighbourhood. Police and fire department officials are investigating the exact cause of the gas leak.
