New Delhi: Panic gripped the West Vihar area of the national capital after unidentified bike-borne assailants opened indiscriminate fire at RK Fitness Gym on Tuesday morning. Multiple bullets struck the glass façade of the gym, though no injuries were reported in the incident.
The gym is reportedly owned by Rohit Khatri, a social media influencer known for his active online presence. Following the firing, the area witnessed heightened tension, and police teams rushed to the spot to secure the premises and begin an investigation.
According to police sources, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the attack. A man identified as Randeep Malik, allegedly linked to the Bishnoi gang, posted on social media taking responsibility for the firing. In the post, Malik claimed that he, along with Anil Pandit (USA), had orchestrated the attack on Rohit Khatri’s gym.
Malik further alleged that he had tried to contact Rohit Khatri over the phone, but the calls went unanswered. Issuing a direct threat, the post warned that failure to respond in the future could result in fatal consequences.
In his message, Malik wrote that those considered enemies of Lawrence Bishnoi would remain so for life, adding that he believes in “showing actions rather than making statements.”
Delhi Police confirmed that they are verifying the authenticity of the social media claims, examining CCTV footage from nearby areas, and tracing the attackers. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those involved.
Police officials have assured that security in the area has been increased and that the matter is being investigated from all angles, including extortion and gang rivalry.
