Jaipur, Rajasthan: A wave of panic swept through Jaipur’s posh Mansarovar area on Monday evening when gunmen opened fire at the popular ‘RJ-21 Café’ near St. Wilfred College on Shiprapath. The café owner, Rithik Nitharwal, was targeted in the attack, though he escaped unhurt.
Attackers Arrive in Swift Car
According to DCP (South) Rajarshi Raj, four men arrived at the café in a white Swift car around evening. They exited the vehicle and immediately began shooting at Rithik, causing chaos among customers and passersby. People panicked and scrambled for safety as bullets rang out in the busy area.
Old Rivalry and Money Dispute Behind the Attack
Preliminary police investigations reveal that the assailants and Rithik Nitharwal were previously business partners in a car rental venture. A long-standing financial dispute over transactions appears to be the motive behind the attack, with the gunmen aiming to intimidate the café owner.
Attackers Flee Amid Public Outcry
As locals and shopkeepers rushed to the scene, creating a commotion, the assailants fled in their car through the narrow lanes of Shiprapath. Police recovered empty cartridges from the site and have identified the suspects. A citywide search is underway to apprehend the attackers.
