Fires Turn Deadly Threat Again in Jaipur, Coaching Students Trapped as Multiple Blazes Rock City

A series of three major fire incidents in a single day sent shockwaves across Jaipur on December 29, raising serious concerns over fire safety and emergency preparedness in the Rajasthan capital. Fires broke out at a coaching institute in Mahesh Nagar, a residential apartment in Karni Vihar, and a JCB warehouse on Ajmer Road, triggering panic across the city.

Although no casualties were reported, the incidents narrowly averted major tragedies and exposed glaring lapses in safety measures.

Coaching Students Caught in Flames and Smoke

The most alarming incident occurred late at night in Sultan Nagar, Mahesh Nagar, where a transformer explosion followed by a short circuit sparked a massive fire. Burning sparks quickly spread to a nearby coaching institute, engulfing the building while students were inside.

Dense smoke filled classrooms and the library, leaving students trapped and terrified. Police and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and carried out an urgent rescue operation. Using a rear exit and temporary tin sheds, emergency teams safely evacuated all students.

While no one was injured, books, furniture, and study material were completely destroyed, causing significant losses and distress among students.

Cylinder Blast Rocks Residential Apartment

Earlier the same day, a terrifying explosion shook Vinayak Apartments in Karni Vihar after a fire broke out in a flat. A gas cylinder blast intensified the blaze, sending flames soaring and damaging the building’s structure.

More than 50 residents were rescued safely in a swift evacuation operation. During the rescue, Head Constable Shankar Lal collapsed due to smoke inhalation and was admitted to SMS Hospital for treatment. The blast was so powerful that a wall of the flat collapsed, heightening panic in the area.

Massive Blaze at JCB Warehouse on Ajmer Road

In the third major incident, a JCB warehouse near DPS School on Ajmer Road caught fire, turning into a massive inferno. Dozens of fire tenders battled the blaze for nearly three hours before bringing it under control.

While no injuries were reported, officials estimate losses worth several crores of rupees, as heavy machinery and equipment were gutted in the fire.

Safety Measures Under Scrutiny

The back-to-back incidents have sparked public concern over fire safety compliance, especially in coaching institutes, residential complexes, and industrial storage facilities. Residents and experts have called for stricter inspections, upgraded fire-fighting infrastructure, and accountability to prevent future disasters.

As Jaipur heads into the new year, these incidents serve as a stark reminder that fire safety cannot be ignored, and timely action is crucial to avert loss of life.
