Filmmaker Meets UP CM, Seeks Tax-Free Status for Cow Protection Film

Lucknow, Jan 31:
The producer and director of the upcoming film ‘Godan’, a feature centred on cow protection and its cultural and ecological significance, paid a courtesy visit on Saturday to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow. During the visit, the trailer of the film was officially launched, attracting attention from political and cultural circles.

An official statement issued by the Chief Minister’s office highlighted that the film emphasizes the importance of cow conservation, the role of cows in Indian culture and tradition, and a scientific perspective based on panchgavya, a mixture derived from five products of the cow, which has been traditionally used for medicinal and agricultural purposes.

Addressing the Chief Minister, producer-director Vinod Chaudhary expressed his hope that the film would be granted tax-free status in Uttar Pradesh, making it accessible to a wider audience. Chaudhary emphasised that the movie is designed to educate and inspire all sections of society, particularly students and youth, about the significance of cow protection and its broader contribution to sustainable living and rural development.

“The film ‘Godan’ is not just a cinematic experience, but a medium to promote awareness about cattle welfare, traditional practices, and their relevance in modern life. We hope that with government support, it reaches audiences across the state and the country,” Chaudhary said.

The Chief Minister lauded the initiative, noting that films promoting social values, cultural heritage, and environmental awareness play an important role in educating society. Officials present at the meeting described the interaction as constructive, with the government considering ways to support films that highlight traditional Indian practices and conservation efforts.

The release of the trailer comes at a time when cow protection and the promotion of indigenous farming practices have been subjects of increasing interest among policymakers, educators, and environmentalists in the region. Observers noted that making the film tax-free could significantly boost its reach and influence, especially among young viewers, further reinforcing public awareness about the ethical and cultural significance of cattle in India.

With its focus on tradition, science, and social awareness, ‘Godan’ is expected to spark discussions on sustainable agriculture, rural livelihoods, and the ethical treatment of animals, aligning with current government initiatives on cultural preservation and environmental conservation.
