Seoni, Madhya Pradesh: In a dramatic, almost cinematic turn of events, three inmates at Seoni District Jail successfully executed a jailbreak before eventually surrendering to authorities under pressure from police and their families.
The three prisoners, all accused in a rape case, hatched a meticulously planned escape. Police reports reveal that the inmates staged a fight inside the jail, deliberately injuring themselves to secure medical attention. During treatment at the jail hospital, they obtained medicines from the pharmacist and scaled a small hospital wall, before using a rope-like contraption to climb over the high jail wall and flee.
The jailbreak was discovered during the evening inmate count, causing panic within the jail administration. Immediate searches were launched, but within hours, police reached out to the fugitives’ families. Authorities warned that failure to cooperate could result in encounters with the law, prompting the families to act swiftly. By late night, the three accused were brought back voluntarily by their relatives and surrendered at Seoni District Jail.
The identities of the surrendered prisoners have been confirmed as Ankit (son of Shriwal), Vishal (son of Chhiddi Lal), and Vishal (son of Brahmanand). The police confirmed that the trio formally surrendered and are now back behind bars.
While the incident ended without further violence, it has raised serious concerns over security lapses and surveillance at the Seoni District Jail, prompting questions about the preparedness of the prison system to prevent such audacious escapes.
